5 POWERING PIM 31 UP/DOWN

5.1 Powering UP

PIM 31 test systems power up in a similar fashion to a desktop PC. However,

there is one exception: significant RF power has to be controlled and managed..

For this reason PIM 31 series test systems contain a protection system to protect

the hardware, e.g. prevents unusual on/and off cycles ( e.g. 3 cycles per

second). When used normally, the user will not even recognize that these

protective mechanisms are working.

Preparations for powering up:

Ensure that the main outlet has proper grounding.

Connect the correct power cable to the tester

Connect the power cable to the main outlet

• Switch on the PIM31 main power switch at

the backside of the unit. Allow for a short

delay before switching on front power

button. (This will allow protection circuitry

to enable all PIM 31 modules).

• Push Start Button briefly at the front panel.

The system will boot up automatically and show the user interface in the Field

Mode.
